About Me
"It's easier to express myself through music. I'm braver at the piano than anywhere else, and to me it is my second voice. Whether songwriting, or composing, the piano usually is the starting point. I write about my own experiences, and whatever I encounter that inspires me. Sometimes a scene in a novel can be as inspiring to me as anything happening in my personal life."
I'm a pianist, singer and songwriter, performing under the name mister ebby. My music merges pop, classical, folk and jazz influences and covers a range of styles from bawdy chamber pop, to quiet instrumental piano pieces, to wistful folk ballads.
In 2014 I released a set of piano instrumentals as an EP "for night skies", and a single "The Bay".
I released my debut album at the end of 2011 after running the first successful music crowdfunding project on Fundit.ie. Since then I've played a slot at the Guinness Cork Jazz festival, organised a mini tour around Ireland for the album launch; played to a worldwide audience in online hangout concerts in Google+; and have been featured on local and national radio.
At the moment I'm planning my second album of original songs.
"There's a journey you take as an artist. You're inviting people to witness that journey, and travel it with you, but the journey is your own, and you need to be making it for yourself but allowing others to take part."
